ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced on Monday its weekly award winners for the period ending April 29, 2018 with Southern Vermont College senior shortstop John Arancio (Oradell, N.J.) being named the Baseball Player of the Week.
Arancio hit the cover off the ball through SVC's four games as he batted .688 with a 1.500 slugging percentage. He hit a home run in three-straight games including his second grand slam of the year. The senior totaled 11 RBIs, nine runs scored, and a walk.
In his 16 at bats, Arancio only struck out once while registering two doubles and a triple. In Southern Vermont's Friday win over Newbury College, he hit for the cycle on a 4-5 showing at the dish. The Mountaineer then tallied his 100th career hit in the backend of Saturday's doubleheader against Lesley University.
Arancio and the Mountaineers wrap up regular season play on Wednesday with a 3:30 p.m. series finale against LU at home.
