Denise Welch (Land) | Inducted 2001

 

 

Denise Welch, class of 1997, played women’s soccer from 1993-1996, women’s basketball from 1993-1997, and softball from 1994-1997. On the soccer field she held many records, upon her induction in 2001, with the most career saves (488), most career shutouts (12), most shutouts in a season (7), and most career victories (21). On the basketball court Welch was the first women to reach a 1000 career points, as she finished with 1,283. She also had the most career rebounds with 1,015, most points in a game with 38, and the most rebounds in a game with 25. On the diamond Welch was named the 1994 Rookie of the Year and was the MVP in 1996 and 1997.
